LAHORE, Oct 4: Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Monday suspended from service the Sialkot district police officer, the DSP, the SHO and other officials concerned.

He was presiding over a meeting held here to review the investigation progress in the Sialkot mosque tragedy and the overall law and order situation in the province. The chief minister said the police officers and officials concerned failed to ensure the implementation of the rules laid out for the maintenance of law and order, and protection of worship and other sacred places.

The DPO, the DSP and the SHO neither briefed properly the security guard deputed outside the Zainabia Masjid nor ensured the implementation of precautionary measures in this regard.

Warning that no laxity, negligence or inefficiency would be tolerated, he directed all the police officers to ensure the implementation of the measures approved by the government to combat terrorism and improve law and order.

Pervaiz Elahi made it clear that no member of the victims' families was involved in lawlessness. He said strict action would be taken against the elements who disturbed law and order for political gains.

He urged the all Masajid committees in the province to extend full cooperation to the law enforcement agencies. Laws to control misuse of loudspeakers would be enforced strictly. Earlier, the meeting was informed that clues to the suspects involved in the tragic incident had been found.
