SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 4: A committee, consisting of eight Nankana bar members, was constituted on Monday to negotiate with the government release of their three colleagues.

The committee in a meeting urged the government to release the lawyers, including UC Nazim Rana Ali Asghar advocate, senior member Rai Amin Bhatti, ex-MPA Barkat Ali Ghayoor, Hameed Rehmani, UC Nazim and JI Amir Anwar Zahid advocate and two students Allah Ditta and Imdad Hussain.

It was also decided that the backdrop under which their detention was made would be discussed in the bar meeting. The release committee comprised officiating president Amanat Bhatti, MNA Rai Mansib Ali, MPA Zulqarnain Dogar, Mehar Ashraf Padhyar, Shaukat Bhatti, Latif Wattoo, Waheed Aslam Maan and Tahir Chaudhry. Amanat Bhatti chaired the meeting.

On this occasion, Ashraf Padhyar said on the appeal of the committee, lawyers community in Sheikhupura and Nankana have called off the strike. He added if their colleagues were not set free at the earliest, the lawyers would again boycott the courts and take out processions.

RALLY: Scores of Farooqabad residents, led by PML-N MPA Sajjad Haider Gujjar, took out a rally on Monday and blocked the Lahore-Sargodha Road for an hour against the alleged custodial killing of Shahbaz.

They demanded arrest of Inspector Zafar Iqbal, constables Rehmat and Zulfiqar for their alleged involvement. Reports said Shahbaz was arrested by the city police in a drugs case. He breathed his last on way to DHQ hospital due to police torture.
