GUJRANWALA, Oct 6: A union council councillor involved in a criminal case escaped from a local court when the judge on Wednesday cast away his bail application.

Reports said that accused Muhammad Aslam had grabbed a piece of agricultural land of Nizam Din on fake documents.

He got an interim bail when the police registered a case against him and his three other accomplices. Police were conducting raids to arrest him.

SHOT DEAD: An arms dealer was shot dead by unidentified assailants on broad daylight in a market here on Wednesday. Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad of Qila Dedar Singh was running his arms shop on the GT Road.

Two motorcyclists opened fire on him when he came out of a nearby mosque after offering his Zohr prayers. He died on the spot. The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained. His body was removed to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy. A murder case has been registered against the unidentified accused.
