SUKKUR, Oct 7: Activists of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F took out a peace procession in Bagarji on Thursday, aimed at putting an end to the bloody conflict between the Ramejo and Kori tribes.
Led by Maulana Abdul Karim Junejo and Maulana Abdul Haq Mahar, the procession passed through main thoroughfares of the town and congregated at the main Shahi Bazaar Chowk.
Speaking to the gathering, the leaders said that because of the dispute, the entire region had become a no-go zone, which had adversely affected the social and economic life of the area.
They said that despite several clashes between the two groups, in which some 16 people were killed and several injured, the rulers had done nothing so far to end it. They appealed to the government, particularly the Sindh chief minister, to put in personal effort to settle the dispute, as he had done in the Mahar-Almani case.
MULTAN BLAST: Leaders of Ahl-i-Sunnat Wal Jamaat, Sukkur, here on Thursday, condemned the bomb blasts in Multan during the Maulana Mohammad Azam Tariq Shaheed Conference, which claimed 45 lives and injured more than 100 people.
A press statement issued here on Thursday said that Jamaat leaders Allama Abdul Razzaq Haideri, Qari Attaur Rehman Rehmani and others said that the government had always taken a one-sided action against their party, while killers of Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi, Maulana Azam Tariq, Haji Mohammad Waris Shaheed and others were at large and raising the graph of terrorist activities.
They demanded that the government should immediately arrest the culprits behind the bomb blasts, and punish them accordingly.
SUSPENDED: The regional police officer, Sukkur, Rahoo Khan Brohi, on Thursday suspended the TPO of Thul, Abdul Rauf Suhriani, in a case of oil theft from a PARCO pipeline.
SHOs of Thul and Karampur have already been demoted and suspended in the case. About one month ago, the Karampur police arrested six police officials of the Thul police station, including SHO Ghulam Sarwar Buriro, while stealing oil from the PARCO main pipeline.
On receiving the information, Thul TPO Abdul Rauf Suhriani, along with a police party, reached at the Karampur police station, and asked the SHO to release the arrested policemen. When the SHO refused to free the police officials of Thul, the TPO opened fire and got them released.
Jacobabad DPO Mohammad Baloch rushed to the scene and ordered demotion and suspension of the SHOs of Karampur and Thul. The SHOs were sent to Police Lines. The Sukkur RPO ordered the DPO and the DPO, investigation to conduct an inquiry.
