SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 7: Traders community observed complete strike against the deteriorating law and order situation here on Thursday. All business centres, bazaars and shopping plazas remained closed on the call of traders association.

Speaking at a meeting, Anjuman-i-Taajran central president Mian Pervez alleged that the city police had failed to control crime. He said during the last few days many shops and passers-by were looted even in the presence of police. He accused the police of involvement in rising incidence of robberies.

Mr Pervez threatened to close business centres if the police did not arrest the situation. Meanwhile, social and religious circles also demanded of the police to improve the law and order situation. When contacted, the SP said: "No doubt the law and order is not satisfactory in the city, however, we are making efforts to this effect."
