DADU, Oct 10: A large number of women councillors took out a procession here on Sunday in protest against the non-release of funds for development schemes recommended by them.
They were led by the district organizer of the women councillors' resource centre, Maula Bux Mastoi, women councillors Soni Solangi, Imamzadi Shaikh and Azeeman. They staged a demonstration outside the press club.
Speaking on the occasion, Imamzadi Shaikh said no funds had been released to women councillors in the Dadu district for development schemes and honorarium. She said development projects were executed through union council and taluka nazims only.
She appealed to the president to announce special package for women councillors enabling them to carry out development works in their respective areas.
MNA: People's Party Parliamentarians MNA Rafique Jamali inaugurated water supply scheme in Gul Babar village in Johi taluka on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the scheme was completed with a cost of Rs5.5 million released through the taluka municipal administration.
He said sweat water would be supplied to 20 villages of the Kachho area through the scheme. He announced that from his funds electricity would be provided to Tharari Jado Shaheed village with a cost of Rs2.2 million. Johi Taluka Nazim Datal Jamali and former MNA Mohammad Bux Jamali were also present on the occasion.
MEDICAL CAMP: A one-day free medical camp for skin diseases was setup in the KG school Dadu on Sunday. About 1,500 patients were examined and provided medicines free of cost.
Dr Manzoor Memon, Dr Muzaffar, Dr Rajesh Kumar, Dr Niaz, Dr Ayaz and Dr Ghulam Ali Khawaja examined patients at the camp. The camp was held under the aegis of the Trust for Abdul Sattar Khero.
