FAISALABAD, Oct 10: Several public meetings, congregations and musical programmes have been cancelled in the district after the ban imposed on the gathering of more than five people in the wake of recent wave of terrorism.

Local clubs, hotels, non-government organizations, religious outfits, political parties and managements of shrines and seminaries have positively responded to the call of the district administration and police by cancelling their functions. Some of the urs functions of spiritual leaders have also been cancelled after the imposition of ban under section 144 CrPC by the district government.

All the six tehsil municipal administrations also have been asked by District Nazim Zahid Nazir to play a positive role in implementation of orders. The Nazims of union councils have been asked to take people into confidence and ensure that there will be no untoward incident.

The TMA Saddar is learnt to have cancelled the four-day annual cattle show and funfair scheduled to begin on Sunday. Its members have expressed grief and sorrow over the killings of people in Sialkot and Multan blasts and assassination of Mufti Muhammad Jameel in Karachi.

Likewise, the police patrol squads and the personnel on pickets have also been ordered by District Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains to keep an eye on the activities of suspects and check pillion riders.

The SHOs have been asked not to allow anybody to hold any recreational gathering like musical show in the open. Meanwhile, the Nazim and the DPO visited different mosques, seminaries and other sensitive areas of the city during prayer timings and checked the security arrangements.

The District Headquarters Hospital and the Allied Hospital have chalked out a crisis management plan. The heads of both the hospitals as well as senior administrative officers on Sunday checked the facilities and directed the doctors and paramedical staff to do a extra bit in case of any emergency.
