HARIPUR, Oct 10: Haripur's tehsil council on Saturday unanimously adopted a resolution urging President Pervez Musharraf not to shed his army uniform.
The council had met for its routine monthly session with tehsil naib nazim Amin Khan Badhora in the chair.
Union council Mankraye's naib nazim Raja Zubair moved the pro-uniform resolution, seeking its approval from councillors. The resolution said that since the country needed a strong head of state at this juncture when Pakistan was required to play a proactive role in the ongoing war against terror, it was imperative that Gen Musharraf retained both the offices of president and army chief.
The resolution said that in order to ensure that the steps initiated by Gen Musharraf to turn around the economy and bring about prosperity in the country remained on course, he must hold both the offices.
The council unanimously supported the resolution by a show of hand. On this occasion, tehsil nazim Iftikhar Ahmad Khan accused the NWFP chief minister of being involved in an attempt on his life. He said the MMA's provincial government claimed to be honest but it was secretly impeding the process of bringing the culprits to task.
