SIALKOT, Oct 13: Two men were killed and a minor child sustained injuries as a hand grenade exploded on Wednesday noon in the courtyard of an ex-armyman's house at Joyian Sabzpir village near the Sialkot working boundary.

Reports said Muhammad Latif (50) was making a stove of tin by cutting an empty drum at his house along with his friend Muhammad Akram (37) when the grenade kept in the pocket of Akram went off, killing them on the spot and injuring a six-year-old boy Asad Abbas, the grandson of Latif.

The child was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. A huge contingent of police and intelligence agencies besieged the house and started investigation.

It was learnt that Akram found the high intensity hand grenade from the nearby fields and took it to Latif's house where it exploded. No one had yet confirmed that the explosion was an act of terrorism.

The intelligence agencies combed the area for any more explosive device. Meanwhile, district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid, DCO Syed Tahir Raza Naqvi, acting DPO Shraq Jamal Khan and Pasrur tehsil Nazim Maqsood Sullehriya rushed the village and inquired about the explosion.
