KHAIRPUR, Oct 13: The chairman of the District Public Safety Commission, Mr Abbas Bhambhro, through a written communication, has called upon the DPO to take a necessary action and lodge an FIR against officials of the Gambat police for their alleged involvement in two gang rape cases.

The chairman said two young girls - Bashiran and Afshan -, resident of Gambat town, had complained to the commission that additional SHO Ghulam Mohammad Channo, ASI Aman Mirani, head-constable Azam Junejo, constable Mohammad Ali Junejo, constable Haji Khuhro and Rasheed Kalhoro forcibly took them away from their house and raped them.

They said on the next day when they went to lodge an FIR at the Gambat police station, the police staff instead of lodging FIR took a bribe from them. Mr Bhambhro expressed surprise over the police excesses and inaction as a week had passed but they had not registered the case.

MMA CRITICIZED: The chief of the Millat-i-Islamia Pakistan, Allama Ali Sher Hyderi, has told journalists that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal had obtained votes in the name of Islam but its MNAs have not taken steps to ensure Islamic legislation.
