District Nazim Nasir Hussain Shah presided over the workshop. Team leader Inam-ul-Haque and chartered accountants Avais Hyder and Nauman Rizwani explained the objectives of the workshop.

They stressed the need for initiating a dialogue among relevant sections on methodology, criteria and procedures used by the Provincial Finance Commission in working out a formula for distribution of resources.

They invited suggestions from the participants for any alternative course of action. They should include indicators which could form the basis for distribution of resources like population, deprivation, revenue generation and expenditure reduction.

They said basic principles to be followed by the Provincial Finance Commission should be based on the fiscal need, fiscal capacity, fiscal effort and performance. Sukkur DCO Abdul Qadir Mangi said that there was a need for reviewing and debating the financial issues in order to achieve the desired results.

DCO Jacobabad, the director of the Institute of Business Administration Sukkur and EDOs of finance and revenue of Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Shikarpur and Khairpur districts participated in the workshop.
