ISLAMABAD, Oct 13: Pakistan and Mauritius on Wednesday condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and called for a global approach to comprehensively address the root causes of the menace.

The two countries also agreed to establish constructive interaction in fighting international terrorism, a joint statement issued at the conclusion of Mauritian prime minister's visit to Pakistan said.

Pakistan and Mauritius reaffirmed their commitment to the UN Security Council Resolution 1373. Prime Minister Paul R. Berenger was on a four-day visit on the invitation of the prime minister of Pakistan.

During the detailed talks the two sides exchanged views on a range of important bilateral, regional and international issues. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation as well as to promote global peace and stability. It was decided that they would consult closely on important issues at international forums.

Pakistan and Mauritius also agreed to intensify economic interaction. The two countries agreed to establish direct air links and shipping services, promote inter-bank relations and enhance trade and investment flows.

It was also decided that the trade chambers of the two countries would work for effective expansion of trade and economic interaction. The two sides expressed satisfaction on the implementation of the programme of educational and cultural cooperation signed in February 2002 between the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries. -APP
