MULTAN: 12 killed in three accidents

MULTAN, Oct 29: Twelve people perished and many others hurt in three accidents in Muzaffargarh and Vehari on Friday. In the worst accident of the three , seven people were killed when a Rawalpindi-bound coach collided head-on with a pick-up near Sultan Colony, about 55 kilometres from here, in Muzaffargarh.

All the three people travelling by the van were killed. They were identified as Sheikh Waheed, Mukhtar and Khalil. The coach overturned after the collision as a result of which, four of its passengers - Saifullah, Mazhar Abbas, Bilal and Rehana Batool - died on the spot while 13 others hurt. . Eight of them were admitted to the Nishter Hospital in Multan.

Meanwhile, a Muzaffargarh-bound passenger wagon collided with an oil tanker coming from the opposite direction near Wasandeywali at Rohilanwali area. Wagon driver Arif and two passengers - Fazal and Babar - were killed and 14 others injured. Seven of the injured wagon passengers were brought to the Nishter Hospital due to their serious condition.

In the third accident, Ghulam Ali and his son Aslam were killed while eight others, four of them women, injured in Gaggo Mandi area of Bureywala in Vehari when the motorcycle-rickshaws they were riding collided with a truck in a bid to overtake each other.
