FAISALABAD, Nov 19: A man staged a drama of kidnap for ransom of his daughter with the help of his friend to get money from his father. Ghulam Muhammadabad police said Aslam lodged a complaint that his eight-year-old daughter Kashmala was kidnapped for ransom a week ago. They started investigation and asked the victim family to keep in touch over the issue.

The girl's family received phone calls in which the kidnapper demanded Rs500,000 ransom. But the kidnapper agreed on Rs125,000, they said. Aslam and his father Salahuddin arranged the money and rushed to the Narwala Road where the kidnapper ordered them to deliver the money. After some time, Aslam asked his father to go home and he would receive the girl alone.

An hour later, he came home along with his daughter and said he had handed over ransom to the kidnappers. Police also rushed to Aslam's house and, smelling some foul play, took Aslam into custody.

They said Aslam admitted during investigation that he had hatched a plan with the help of his friend Ijaz to get money from his father. Police had also arrested Ijaz and started investigation. No case has so far been registered. The amount was recovered from Ijaz.
