PPP for end to Musharraf rule

Published November 20, 2004

SARGODHA, Nov 19: The PPP Parliamentarian is least concerned about the uniform of Gen Musharraf as its main objective is to end his illegal rule. This was stated by party's Punjab information secretary Naveed Chaudhry while talking to newsmen at the residence of MPA Dr Nadia Aziz here on Friday.

He said the PPP would prepare for the local bodies polls instead of wasting its energies on the uniform issue. He said component parties would not launch a campaign against the uniform and would prefer to go against the illegal rule of Musharraf.

He said the PPP had never supported the Musharraf government and was striving for the restoration of the 1973 Constitution. If Musharraf restored the constitution and had him elected through it, his party would not hesitate to accept him.

About the PPP Patriots, he termed them turncoat and traitors who would never be accepted in the party fold for they had stabbed in the back. He said former president Farooq Leghari was one such example who stood nowhere in politics as he had become a rolling stone.

The foundation week of the PPP, he said, would be observed from Nov 30 to Dec 7, and meetings would be held in all the districts. Provincial People's Youth Organization president Mian Muhammad Ayub said the PPP would not fell prey to any move of the present regime.

He said the party would not compromise on the release of Zardari. Earlier, he was warmly received by Haji Farooq Hassan, Tanveer Bukhari, Chaudhry Abdul Aziz Dhonda, Malik Shahbaz Aslam, Nisar Ahmed Razi and Malik Hamid Nawaz.
