SUKKUR, Nov 21: The secretary general of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Sindh, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro has criticized the Sindh chief minister's stance of not allowing the alliance's public meeting in Karachi.

Speaking at a gathering at Qudsia mosque here on Saturday night, he termed the chief minister's attitude unconstitutional and undemocratic. He said Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim was a religious man but he had used unethical language against leaders of religious parties.

The MMA leader said Dr Rahim was trying to save his chair and resorting to threats. He said if the chief minister had passion for Tableegh, then he must quit politics as the people of the Tableeghi Jamaat did not indulge in politics.

Mr Soomro made it clear that the MMA was determined to hold its public meeting in Karachi on Nov 28 at any cost. He appealed to the people of Sindh to participate in the protest meeting in a large number.

ACCIDENT: Two persons were killed and another was injured in an accident on the Indus Highway near Shikarpur on Sunday. A passenger coach, coming to Kandhkot from Karachi, collided head on with a pickup coming from opposite side.

As a result, pickup driver Abdul Majeed, son of Ghulam Nabi, and an unidentified passenger were killed. Besides, Punhal, son of Gullan Kakepoto, was injured and later taken to a Shikarpur hospital. The Naparkot police have impounded the coach. However, no case was registered till the filing of this report.
