LARKANA, Nov 22: District Nazim Khursheed Junejo has expressed concern over reduction in reserved seats for the Chandka Medical College and the Sukkur Medical College in other medical colleges of the country.
In a letter communicated to the Sindh governor, chief minister, Sindh health minister and chief secretary, he pointed out that reserved seats of the CMC had been decreased to three from six in the Dow Medical College and from nine to three in the Sindh Medical College.
Mr Junejo said the decision had deprived meritorious students of an opportunity to study in Karachi. On the contrary, Karachi had been given 25 seats in Hyderabad, he added. He said Sukkur had been given one seat in the Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore while Larkana had been given one seat in the Punjab Medical College Faisalabad.
The nazim demanded that at least 12 reserved seats be allocated for the CMC students in the Dow University of Health Sciences, Sindh Medical College, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and Allama Iqbal Medical College.
Seven seats should be reserved for students of the Sukkur Medical College in the Dow University, SMC, LUMHS and PMC Faisalabad. He said of 25 seats reserved for Karachi students in Hyderabad, some of them be reserved for the CMC, PMC Nawabshah and the Sukkur Medical College.
