GUJRAT, Nov 25: The district government on Thursday vacated a piece of land from a grabber and handed it over to its real owner on the court order. Seth Nadeem Ashraf, who had recently joined the PML, had a four-canal plot near Servis Morr.

Nadeem Mubarak, Imtiaz Ahmad and accomplices had occupied his land four years ago. Mr Ashraf moved the court which decided the case in his favour. The district Nazim and the EDO (revenue) supervised the operation carried out along with a heavy contingent of police.

ROBBERIES: Three gunmen took away Pakistani and foreign currency worth hundreds and thousands of rupees from the shop of money changer Javed Iqbal Butt in Karrianwala.

In another incident, three robbers snatched Rs5,000 in cash and 10 tolas of gold jewellery from two sisters in Serai Alamgir near Koth Kariala. Meanwhile, thieves decamped with Rs20,000 in cash and cigarettes worth around the same amount from the shop of Sarfraz Ansari in Jalalpur Jattan.

PROBE ORDERED: The district Nazim has directed the Kharian DSP to initiate departmental probe against the SHO, an ASI and moharrar of Kharian Saddar police station for keeping a girl in illegal confinement.
