DADU, Nov 26: Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Jatoi has said that the federal government is implementing projects at a cost of millions of rupees in various areas of Dadu which have been neglected in the past.

The projects are in health and education sectors, besides construction of roads and drainage networks. He was speaking at a meeting of officers in his native village Betto Jatoi held on Friday to review development schemes.

He said that construction of But-Serai village to Mushtaq Jhatial village road, drainage scheme of Sita Road and water supply scheme of Mado village were completed. He said that at a cost of Rs80 million, reconditioning and widening of roads from Shah Panjo to Nau Goth, Mehar to Aghamani, Khairpur Nathan Shah to Boriri and Khairpur Nathan Shah to Sindhi Butra had been initiated.

Talking about schemes of education sector, he said that at a cost of Rs52 million, work on classrooms for girls college in Mehar, upgradation of mono-technical institute, Mehar, additional rooms at boys high school, Radhan, and girls high school Sita Road and construction of an intermediate girls college in Khairpur Nathan Shah had been initiated and would be completed during current financial year.

In health sector, the federal minister said that projects including casualty and emergency blocks at taluka hospitals in Khairpur Nathan Shah and Mehar had been completed and construction of an eye ward at taluka hospital in Mehar was going on.

He said that construction of roads from Indus highway to Wali Mohammad village, Burira-Mado to Aliwal village and Bego Dero to Bilawalpur had been initiated. Mr Jatoi said that work on water supply schemes in Radhan town and Bora Lakhair and Aliwal villages was also in progress. He said that 70 villages had been electrified in the district while 100 more villages were to be electrified.

ARRESTED: Two more accused, Panah Abro and Nawab Samoon, were arrested in the kidnapping case of social worker Vinta here on Friday. The SHO of Dadu police station told newsmen that police were trying to arrest all the accused nominated in the kidnapping case.

He said that security had been provided to Vinta and she had been produced in the court of the district and sessions judge where she had recorded her statement under section 164, CrPC. Vinta will again appear in the court on Wednesday.
