DADU, Nov 29: Speakers at a seminar have stressed the need for protecting fundamental rights of children and ensuring that their victimization is ended.

Speaking at a seminar in Johi town, Syed Hakim Ali Bukhari, Jami Chandio, Ahmed Khan Suhag, Akbar Lashari, Bakht Jamal Soomro, Ahmed Khan Madhosh and Saeed Ahmed said that children were usually forced to work owing to poverty, and as such, could not receive proper education.

The government had not taken effective measures for the welfare of children, they said, adding that children were being burdened because of the increasing poverty in the country.

They demanded that educational as well as health facilities be provided to children, particularly in neglected area. A large number of children, women, students, social workers and other citizens attended the seminar organized by the Village Shadabad, a welfare organization.

PROTEST CAMPAIGN: Tapedars would launch a protest drive throughout the province for acceptance of their demands next month. Imdad Ali Buledi of the All Tapedars Association, Sindh, at a meeting held here on Saturday, said that those tapedars, who had been imparted training, should be issued posting orders, and added that they be merged into the Gothabad scheme.

PARAMEDICS MARCH: Paramedical staff, who are observing a long march for acceptance of their demands, reached here on Saturday. After some time, the paramedics proceeded towards Karachi, led by their leaders Murtaza Junejo, Niaz Bhutto and Rafique Panhwar. The march started from Kashmore for the Chief Minister House in Karachi some few days back.
