SUKKUR, Nov 29: A four-year-old girl, Rahima, fell into the sewerage manhole in Khambhra village of the Ubauro taluka on Monday and died.

Hundreds of villagers gathered between the Mureed Shakh and Ubauro towns and held a protest demonstration against the taluka nazim who, according to them, was responsible for the death. The protesters dispersed peacefully after raising slogans against the taluka nazim and councillors.

PROTEST: A group of people staged a demonstration outside the Civil Hospital Sukkur on Monday in protest against alleged negligence of duty doctors, Dr Safdar Soomro and Dr Asad, who according to them were responsible for the death of Badshahzadi, wife of Aslam Bhambhro.

The husband of the deceased refused to take the body from the hospital while angry mob raised slogans against doctors and administration of the Civil Hospital. They claimed that doctors provided empty oxygen cylinder and till her death the same cylinder remained attached to her.

They said they had admitted the patient on Nov 18 after complaint of stomach ache but doctors failed to diagnose her ailment till her death while she was not given any medicine neither they gave a written prescription to us for the purchase of medicine from the medical store.

Doctors on duty fled from the scene when the angry mob assembled outside the hospital. Hospital sources said the condition of the patient was deteriorating during the last two days as she was suffering from tuberculosis.
