KARACHI, Nov 30: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain will speak at a public meeting by telephone in Nishtar Park on Dec 5. This was announced by the deputy convener of the MQM, Dr Farooq Sattar , at a press conference at Karachi Press Club.
Altaf Hussain would announce his future plans, and the meeting would motivate people against extremism, violence, and unveil conspiracy of derailing democracy by religio-political parties, he said.
He said the MQM would introduce a code of conduct on tolerance and project real issues of masses. Dr Farooq Sattar said that his party believed in democratic political culture and was desirous of a durable and stable system based on mutual tolerance and peace.
He criticized the opposition parties' movement against military uniform of President Pervez Musharraf. The continuity of democratic and political process was more important than uniform issue. People were fed up of opposition's political movements on non-issues, he maintained.
Dr Farooq Sattar stated that for day one it was the MQM manifesto that right from the first day of its inception Pakistan was envisaged as a democratic, welfare and Islamic state in which his party stood for opposing all kinds of extremism and striving for economic and political justice for all.
