FAISALABAD, Dec 1: The district council on Wednesday approved Rs3.54 billion non-development budget of the education department under the amended Financial Rules of the Punjab government.
During a special session held here with Convener BK Tabish in the chair, district Nazim Zahid Nazir said Rs334.1 million would be spent in 159 girls higher secondary schools, Rs500 million in 210 boys higher secondary schools, Rs500 million in 142 primary sections of the boys high schools and Rs334 million in 119 primary sections of the girls high schools. He said Rs13 million had been allocated for institutions of special children.
The district Nazim also presented a five-year corporate plan worth Rs720 million for discussion. Highlighting the salient features of the plan, he said a comprehensive strategy had been chalked out for the better performance of local departments, increasing working capabilities of public representatives and government employees and awareness among the people about the local council system.
Replying to queries of councillors regarding the basic health units, the district Nazim said the Punjab Rural Support Programme was being launched successfully for the provision of medical facilities to rural population. - Staff Correspondent
