GUJRANWALA: Sale of sasta atta begins

GUJRANWALA, Dec 2: The provision of 10kg flour bags at the rate of Rs90 has been started at 50 sale points under the Punjab Chief Minister's 'sasta atta scheme.'

This was stated by Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal at a briefing here on Thursday.

He said as many as 10 million bags would be distributed among three million people under this scheme throughout the province. He said the government would give a subsidy of Rs250 million to this effect.

Earlier, District Officer (revenue) Syed Najam Ahmad Shah said 20 sale points had been set up in city, five at Gujranwala Sadar tehsil, five at Naushera Virkan, 10 at Wazirabad and six at Kamoki besides one sale point at Ghakkhar, Alipur Chattha, Qila Dedar Singh, Sodara, Nizamabad, Kalassaki, Rasulnagar, Ahmadnagar and Jameki Chattha each.
