HYDERABAD, Dec 2: There is no trace of a body of a four-year-old girl, who fell into an open drain in Makrani Para here on Wednesday. Komal, daughter of rickshaw driver Qurban, slipped and fell into the drain while walking along with her friend.
Residents informed police and also contacted officials of the Hyderabad Development Authority as well as the Water and Sanitation Agency. A number of people gathered at the place as sanitary workers dived into the drain to look for her. However, the Gulshan-i-Hali SHO confirmed that hectic efforts made since Wednesday night had produced no results. No report was lodged with the police till the filing of this report.
CITY BEAUTIFICATION: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has directed the Hyderabad Development Authority administration to complete the construction work for beautifying the city within the stipulate period.
Issuing the directive during inspection of the ongoing work at Wadhu Wah, Thandi Sarak and Tilak Charhi here on Wednesday, he said that Rs3 million had been earmarked for beautification of the city.
He directed the HDA officials to submit beautification plans for the entry points of the city. He also asked them to raise a memorial wall at Tilak Charhi to honour public representatives who had been elected from Hyderabad from the inception of Pakistan. The district nazim said that Wadhu Wah should be cleared of silt and bushes on its embankments should be removed.
