MULTAN, Dec 8: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has initiated an inquiry against a patwari and a police constable on charges of taking bribe.

Haji Nawab Khan of Vehari complained to the ACE authorities that Patwari Mohammad Abid of Halqa Ahmadabad took Rs10,000 as bribe for mutation of a land measuring two kanal and 11 marlas.

Ashraf of Data Colony alleged that Jalilabad police constable Jahangir took Rs20,000 as gratification for discharging his son Sheraz in a case, but later did not oblige him. Meanwhile, three police officials have been proceeded against by the ACE on charges of corruption.

A flying coach terminal manager, Abdul Malik, complained that traffic sergeant Abdul Ghafoor and constables Naim Shahzad and Javed Ghumman extorted Rs30,000 and Rs100 for each vehicle plying on the road. The ACE has appointed assistant director investigations Mian Javed to probe the charges.

DACOITIES: Dacoits took away cash, jewellery and a car in separate hits here on Tuesday night. Jabbar of New Naqshbund Colony told the Gulgasht police that five armed men took away Rs30,000 in cash, jewellery, a camera, wristwatches and valuables from his house.

Afzal of Al-Qaim Town was robbed of gold ornaments worth Rs36,000 and a car by three armed men. Zafar Husain, an employee of Chak 10-T basic health unit, told Budhla Sant police that three outlaws looted medicines and equipment from the hospital besides depriving midwife's sister and messenger Iqbal of cash and jewellery. -APP
