RAWALPINDI: Injured girl dies

RAWALPINDI, Dec 8: The teenage girl, who was critically burnt while cooking meal on Tuesday night, died on Wednesday, police and hospital authorities said.

Sher Ahmed, a resident of Amarpura Mohallah, told Waris Khan police that his daughter, Shahnaz Bibi, showed matchstick to a kerosene oil stove when it blew up.

On hearing her screams, the family members rushed to her rescue and shifted her to the Rawalpindi General Hospital. Later, she was taken to POF Hospital Wah as she had received 95 per cent burns. However, she died early Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, an illegal immigrant was arrested from Pirwadhai on Wednesday. FIA Inspector Kausar Shah said a South African national, identified as Douglas Stanley Ozingo, was taken into custody after he was found acting suspiciously near Pirwadhai. During questioning, he could not produce his travelling documents and was therefore arrested under the foreigner's act.
