OKARA, Dec 16: Punjab Irrigation Minister Chaudhry Amir Sultan Cheema said on Thursday the chief minister had approved the re-modelling project of the Lower Bari Doaab canal, but the provincial government had no funds for it.

He was speaking to a large gathering at the inaugural ceremony of the divisional offices on the Canal Colony premises near the LBDC on Thursday evening. He said the delegations of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank were expected in the country on Dec 28 and the Punjab government would make request for funds for the project.

INJURED: At least 14 passengers were injured when a bus they were travelling by overturned on the GT Road near 3/4-L on Thursday. According to reports, a speeding bus was going to Lahore from Chishtian when it overturned.

Some 14 of the bus occupants were injured. They were identified as Abul Hasan, Mohammad Ishaq, Arshad, Saadi Ahmad, Rajab Ali, Mohammad Shafiq, Ghulam Farid, Ghulam Nabi, Fauji Asghar, Shaukat Hayat, Kazim Ali, Shakoor, Abdul Aziz and Saleem.
