MULTAN, Dec 17: Two alleged robbers were killed while a constable was injured in an encounter here on Friday night.

According to police, the three outlaws first looted some participants of a marriage party in Thadalpur village in the limits of Alpa police station and then snatched the motorcycle from a passer by.

Later, they allegedly deprived a shopkeeper of his daily cash. In the meanwhile, someone informed the police who rushed to the spot and ordered them to surrender. But the outlaws opened fire on police which was returned.

The outlaws later took refuge in the fields in Nawan Shehr area of Kabirwala in Khanewal district. Police claimed that the exchange of fire between them and the outlaws remained continue.

As a result, constable Sakhawat, and two civilians Akram and Yahya sustained bullet injuries. When the firing from the side of outlaws halted, the police searched the area where the robbers were taking positions and found two of them dead. The third had reportedly managed to escape. The killed outlaws could not be identified till the filing of this report at 10.30pm.
