HYDERABAD, Dec 19: The central working committee of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association has criticised the Sindh education authorities what it called inordinate delay in the issuing of promotion notifications of college teachers.

The SPLA committee at a meeting presided over by its president Professor Manzoor Chishti, observed that the departmental promotion committees had held meetings but the notifications were yet to be issued.

It warned that if the problems of college teachers were not resolved by January 15, 2005, they would launch a protest movement throughout the province from January 16.

EXAM SCHEDULE: The controller of examinations, University of Sindh, has notified the schedule of annual examinations of affiliated colleges of the university. According to the announcement, examination of B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Sc (Home Economics (pass) and B.S.W, part-I and M.A (previous) will start from December 29 and those of part-II and M.A. (final) from January 8.

MUET: The Institute of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, has announced that the date for issuing and submitting forms for admissions to Master of Engineering, morning and evening programmes, has been extend up to December 25.

The morning programme is a one and half year programme, its classes will be held for four days a week and scholarship is offered to its deserving students. The evening program is a two-year programme and its classes will be held for three days a week.

JSSF: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation (Zain Shah Group) staged a demonstration in protest against the arrest of the central president of the organization, Dhani Bux Solangi.

They also observed a token hunger strike for several hours. Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq Sarang and others said that Mr Solangi had been falsely implicated in the Sita road bomb blast case and was being tortured by police. They said he was released on bail in the same case earlier but was re arrested by the police when he went to attend the court a couple of days back.
