SANGHAR, Dec 19: Hesco, Khipro sub-division, on Saturday cut 10 government and more than 100 private connections for non-payment of dues of Rs5.7 million.

Power connections of the office of Mukhtiarkar, Government Degree College, Government Boys and Girls College, water supply stations of Hathungo and Khipro and many others were cut.

Power supply to houses and Autaqs of many influential people of the area was also disconnected. Hesco sub-divisional officer Tajammul Baig Leghari said the company had launched the drive to recover the dues against the defaulters. He said the defaulters had been given notices but they did not clear their bills. He said their connections would be restored after they paid the amount.

COTTON PROCUREMENT: MNA Haji Khuda Bux Nizamani has alleged that cotton ginners are fleecing the farmers by purchasing phutti (raw cotton) at prices lower that the one fixed by the government.

Talking to farmers and journalists here, he said that the ginners, on the one hand, are giving low price to the farmers and, on the other, deducting more than five kilogrammes from 40kg of phutti on the pretext of dust.
