SAHIWAL, Dec 22: Civil Lines police on Wednesday registered a case against a sub-inspector for passing murder threat on a lawyer. Muhammad Anwar filed a petition against Kot Khadim Ali post incharge Abdul Raoof in the sessions court. Muhammad Adil appeared in court as counsel of the petitioner.

As the counsel left the court, SI Abdul Raoof hurled murder threat at him. The lawyer brought this to the court notice and filed another writ petition against the SI in the court of additional sessions judge. On the order of the judge, the police registered a case against the SI.

LINE LOSSES: Lines losses in the Sahiwal Mepco division have reportedly swelled to 110,000 units monthly from 50,000 units. The monthly losses to the Mepco have increased to 0.66 million.

To cover the line losses, the Mepco has prepared a five-hour load shedding/load management schedule. Each of the six SDOs has been given to complete 50 hours load shedding by the end of December. Meanwhile, the load shedding/load management schedule was started on Wednesday in Farid Town, Scheme No 2 & 3 and other areas.

CONDEMNED: The PPP district leadership on Wednesday condemned the re-arrest of Asif Ali Zardari and the detention of other party workers by the government.

Mehr Nazar Muhammad Fatiana advocate, Zakir Hussain Braal, Waheedullah Zafar and former MNA Mian Anwarul Haq demanded immediate release of Asif Zardari and others failing which they vowed to take out protest processions. PPP leaders and workers also wore black armbands in protest.
