GUJRANWALA, Dec 31: The district administration and RTA secretary have continued impounding public transport vehicles on the third day with the help of traffic police after setting up of pickets at all city intersections here on Friday.

As of now over 500 wagons and buses have been impounded during the last three days to carry the ruling party workers to Gujrat to welcome President Pervaiz Musharraf. Commuters, including women and children, have to face a lot of inconveniences in the absence of public transport.

Passengers have to look for other means of transport, including animal carts, tractor-trolleys and motorcycle, when the traffic police ask them to get down from buses and wagons.

Many transporters have stopped plying their vehicles for fear of impounding of their motor vehicles. As per reports, the impounded wagons and buses are being handed over to the ruling party legislators and Nazims of union councils to bring maximum people to Gujrat.

The General Bus Stand and other points in the city and its suburbs wear a deserted look as to the result of a large scale impounding of public transport vehicles. Meanwhile, hundreds of people including women and children remained stranded at bus and wagons stands in the Sialkot district.

KILLED: A factory worker was killed in an explosive at Dhulley here on Friday. Reports said Syed Tufail Ahmad Shah of Chunian was working in furnace factory when an explosive took place. He was injured and taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was the father of four.

RECOVERED: A bailiff of the Lahore high court raided a farm in Ghakkhar Town and recovered a man, who had been confined there for the last three days over litigation by farmers.
