GUJRAT, Jan 3: Lalamusa Sadar police on Sunday night registered a case against 18 nominated accused on the charge of killing former MNA Syed Manzoor Shah and his three aides near Theekarian in Lalamusa.

The complainant in the case is Mohsin Ali Shah, the younger brother of the slain MNA. Mohsin stated in the FIR that he along with Madad Ali Shah, Faizul Hasan Shah and Mirza Shamoon Jaral was returning home by a car (IDJ-5555) while his slain brother's aides, including Iqbal and Yasir Shah, were going ahead of them in a Pajero (RIU-2016).

While his brother Manzoor Hussain Shah, Ashraf Dar and Ghulam Ali were leading the caravan in a car (HA-514). Near Theekarian, accused Muzamil, Yasir, Shafqat, Sagheer, Fazal Abbas, Mazhar, Waqar Abbas, Shafaat Hussain, Samar Abbas, and Qasim of Dhola village and Nasir and Qaiser of Jorra village ambushed the car of Manzoor Shah.

Initially, he alleged, Muzamil and later Yasir targeted Manzoor Shah by opening fire with Kalashnikovs. The other accused also opened fire on the car and the Pajero. As a result, Manzoor Shah, Ashraf Dar, Iqbal and Ghulam Ali died instantly while Yasir Shah received bullet wounds.

The complainant further stated that he, Madad Shah, Faizul Hasan Shah and Mirza Shamoon Jaral were the eyewitnesses. He said the accused escaped towards Mekan village after committing the crime.

Citing motive behind the incident, the complainant said that three relatives Munawar Dhola, Ghulam Hur Dhola and Qasim Dhola of the accused were murdered a year ago while his nephew Waqar Haider Shah alias Qari Shah was among the nominated accused of the triple murder. To take revenge, he said, the accused had murdered his brother and three aides.

Nominating six more accused of Dhola village - Qamar Abbas, Tasawwar Hussain, Imran, Jabran, Nazir Ahmad and Safdar Hussain, the complainant alleged that these accused had made the plan in Dhola village to kill Manzoor Shah and other family members.

He further stated that Mudassar of Dhola village and Siddique of Qulewal Syedan village had already informed him and other family members about their plan. However, the headquarters circle police could not find any clue to the killers. DSP (Headquarters) Mehmoodul Hasan Qureshi told this correspondent that several police teams were conducting raids to apprehend the killers.

FUNERAL: Funeral prayers of former MNA Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah were offered here in Qulewal Syedan village amid tight security. He was buried at his ancestral graveyard.

Thousands of people from all walks of life attended the funeral procession. Prominent among them were: MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Gujrat District Nazim Chaudhry Shafaat Hussain and Jhelum District Nazim Farrukh Altaf.
