DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jan 4: The Director-General Relief (Punjab) is in Taunsa to monitor the rehabilitation work where flash floods caused by rains on Suleman Range hills damaged nearly 250 houses and caused damage to livestock and property on Saturday night.

Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi who is also scheduled to visit the affected area on Jan 10, has reportedly directed the administration to take steps for the rehabilitation of marooned villagers. He has also sought details of damages to crops, livestock and houses with recommendations for compensation.

Officials said relief camps have been set up by the district administration in the flood-affected areas where teams of livestock and health and revenue departments have arrived to oversee the work.

Some 200 houses were damaged alone in Jallowali village, reported APP. Some five Mauzas were affected by the Vehoa hill torrent commonly called Rod Kohi, that descended from Suleman Range catchment area.

Nearly 30 houses were damaged in Channarwali village and unspecified number of houses in Mauza Maral. Some villagers, it was learnt, had raised a dyke at the course of the hill torrent to irrigate their land which resulted in heavy damages.
