DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jan 6: Baloch Levies and the Border Military Police on Thursday foiled a plan by the Qaisrani tribe to block the Rodho-Taunsa Road in protest against non-provision of jobs by the authorities of the oil exploration project.

The protesters, led by Imam Bukhsh Qaisrani, were intercepted near Satta BMP post where the military police and Baloch Levies had been deployed to avert any untoward situation.

However addressing the protesters, Imam Bukhsh Qaisrani announced that protest would be continued till the acceptance of their demands of provision of drinking water, health facilities, metalled roads, schools and jobs. Later on, the protesters disperse peacefully.

When contacted, the Dera tribal area political assistant told the correspondent that the contractors of the project had accepted the demands of the local people. He said in coming days matter would be completely settled.

MIR BAZ: PPP senior vice-president Mir Baz Khan Khetran wants the federal government to resolve Balochistan problems amicably. "Constitution of committees or commissions was not going to do the needful," he told newsmen here

He maintained that if it was not done sincerely, growing resentment among the people of Balochistan would cause anarchy. He demanded that the revenue from mega projects like Gawadar should be spent directly on the development of local people.

He said the Survey of Pakistan had not yet prepared the report of Gawadar land consolidation while land mafia of Karachi was making money. Mir Baz believed that the restoration and enforcement of 1973 constitution in its true spirit could bring political stability.

He severely criticized local legislators-cum-feudals for not initiating projects to tame hill torrents which caused devastation in DG Khan and Taunsa last week.
