LAHORE, Jan 11: A solid knock by skipper Naved Qureshi under odds and disciplined bowling by three-pronged pace attack steered Rawalpindi Rams (RR) to their first win in One-day cup when they defeated Lahore Lions (LL) by three wickets at Qadhafi Stadium on Tuesday.

While it was the first win for the visitors, after two losses, the LL faced their first defeat from three matches. RR set 189, scored 194 for seven in 41.3 overs after a shaky start, losing four wickets for 41 in 11 overs.

Naved (47, six fours, 66 balls), duly supported by Usman Saeed (33, four fours, 61 balls) and Yasir Arafat (39, five fours, 41 balls) steadied the innings to overhaul the target.

Put in to bat first, LL were restricted from amassing a big total by pace trio of Rizwan Akbar (3-44), Najaf Shah (2-39) and Yasir Arafat (2-40)as the hosts were all out for 188 in 38.2 overs, mainly due to an enterprising knock of captain Humayun Farhat.

Humayun, who was adjudged Man-of-the-Match, hit a magnificent 72 off 69 balls with 11 fours after LL got off to a poor start of five for 51. Adnan Raza (47, eight fours, 62 balls) was only the other key scorer.
