MULTAN: Tainted liquor claims 3 lives

MULTAN, Jan 16: Three people died due to the consumption of tainted liquor here at Nishter Hospital during the last 24 hours.

Sources said that Kazim Ali of Rangpur, Muzaffargarh district, and Jamshed and Arshad Khan of different localities of Multan brought to hospital in precarious condition could not survive.

They said that two more patients were under treatment at the hospital. More than 40 people had died due to the consumption of substandard liquor in Multan and Muzaffargarh districts a few months ago. However, the police have yet to apprehend the main culprits.

TAKEN AWAY: Six bandits took away medicines worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from the warehouse of a pharmaceutical company here early on Sunday.

The company's official, Azhar Javed, lodged a report with the Gulgasht police station that the bandits took away medicines after overpowering the guards. SHO Mehr Waseem said that officials of the firm were ascertaining the exact loss.
