FAISALABAD, Jan. 17: The Punjab Board of Revenue has amended the procedure for developing housing schemes in urban areas which will be made public soon.

This was told to the governing body of the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) during a special session held here with city tehsil Nazim Mumtaz Cheema in the chair on Monday.

The meeting was told that immediately after the finalization of the new policy, the "FDA City Housing Scheme" would be started. The spade work of the plan had already been completed and final touches would be given after the approval from the provincial authorities.

The meeting decided to waive revival charges of flats in Madina Town, Faizabad, Islam Nagar and Ahmad Nagar to provide the allottees a monitory relief. The meeting decided to conduct a survey for widening the net of Wasa consumers and to generate more funds for the agency.

It was noted with concern that Wasa had been facing serious financial problems due to unavailability of funds and development expenses. Not a single paisa has been provided to Wasa since 2001, therefore, the TMA (city) should allocate funds for the provision of facilities of sewerage and water supply.

The Nazim assured the meeting that efforts would be made to include the sewerage and water supply schemes in the next budget of the tehsil council. About stuck up payments from Wasa defaulters, governing body chairman said Naib Nazims of union councils would be involved in the recovery process.

FDA director general Raja Safdar, Wasa managing director Rashid Chaudhry and officials of the housing, finance, planning and development and TMAs of city and Jaranwala also attended the meeting and highlighted the problems of their areas.
