56 probables to attend hockey camp

LAHORE, Jan 17: Fifty-six probables will attend the national junior training camp to be held at the National Hockey Stadium from Jan 24 for finalising a team who will take part in three international events scheduled for Feb 6 to April 3, as part of preparations for the forthcoming World Cup.

The world mega event will be held in Holland from June 30 to July 10. A home and away series against India-the first leg in India from Feb 25 to March 1 and second in Pakistan from March 2 to 6-, an International junior tournament in Lahore from March 7 to 13 and another one in Malaysia from March 26 to April 3 are the three events.

A Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) spokesman said that the players called for the camp were selected after a thorough review and recommended by the local selectors, the previous team management and the coaches-Tahir Zaman, Asif Bajwa and Khawaja Junaid.

The list would be short listed on Jan 29 and 30 after receiving medical reports about the ages of the probables. The probables will bring with them their national identity card/passport/Form B and Matriculation Certificate in order to determine their date of birth.

PROBABLES:

GOALKEEPERS: Muhammad Iqbal, Shakir Munir, Farhan (Pak Steel), Imran, Nasir Ahmed, Waqas Liaqat and Rashid Yaqoob.

FULL-BACKS: Imran Warsi, Ikhlaq, Tariq Yameen, Ihsan Khan, Imran, Atiq, Adnan Hamid (NBP), Kashif Ali.

HALF-BACKS: Imran Khan, Muhammad Khalid, Abdul Aasim Khan, Sajjad Anwar, Aamir Shehzad, Zaheer Ahmed, Khurram Shahzad, Nadeem Iqbal, Sultan Ashraf, Muhammad Khaliq, Sumair Saleem, Sami, Javaid and Rana Asif.

FORWARDS: Adnan Zakir, Kashif Yaqoob, Ishtiaq, Owais, Shakeel Abbasi,Sunny, Mahmood Ali , Yasir, Muhammad Akhtar, Tariq Aziz, Naeem Akbar, Zeeshan, Usman Akram, Rashid Imran, Shabbir Khan, Mustansar, Waris Sharif, Abbas Haider, Mudassar Abbas, Ammar Ishrat, Noman Zakir, Rizwan Khan, Zubair, Arshad, Imran, Arif and Mukhtar.
