NEW DELHI, Jan 24: India on Monday described as 'baseless' Pakistan's accusation that Indian troops had violated the 14-month-long cease fire by firing across the Line of Control at Mendhar sector on Jan 21.
"We investigated this allegation and the report was found to be baseless," Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in response to a question about Islamabad's charge made by his Pakistani counterpart Masood Khan earlier on Monday.
Mr Sarna said the issue was raised by Pakistan's Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) with his Indian counterpart as part of their regular conversation.
It was conveyed to the Pakistan DGMO that the report was baseless, Mr Sarna said. The allegation made in Islamabad may have been due to "lack of communication" at that end, he added.
