KARACHI, Jan 28: A man was shot dead and three others wounded on Friday in an armed clash between two groups over the possession of a mosque in Surjani Town.

Police said that Qari Azizur Rehman, 40, died while Qari Inayatullah, Wazir-ur-Rehman, and Hidayatullah were wounded in the clash and taken to a hospital.

The bone of contention was the possession of a mosque in sector 36-B in Surjani Town, they added. Police claimed to have arrested Ahmed Raza Qadri and Akhtar Hussain Qadri following the recovery of unlicensed weapons from them. They were accused of firing and killing the victims.

KILLED: A man was shot dead when he put up resistance to bandits in Quaidabad. Police said that Mehmood Alam, 35, was intercepted by unknown bandits in Majeed Colony. The bandits tried to loot his belongings at gunpoint but Mehmood resisted them. They shot Alam, killing him on the spot, and fled with the loot.
