SUKKUR: Two held for selling women

SUKKUR, Feb 4: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two members of a gang allegedly involved in 'slave trade' and freed two women from their costody. Those arrested were identified as Imtiaz Magsi and Haji Mengal.

The Usta Mohammed police said three other accomplices of the accused belonged to Punjab and raids were being conducted to arrest them. Police claimed the gang used to entice women at different shrines of saints, saying that they would be provided employment but they later sold them.

The recovered women were identified as Amna Bibi, 35, and Pirya, 15. The police said Amna was sold to Ahmed in Jhal Magsi and Pirya to Nadir Magsi, 50, in Usta Mohammad.

ARRESTED: Two robbers were arrested in injured condition by the Ghotki police on Friday. Police said they had hired a taxi (A-3127) in Adilpur for Sukkur and when reached the city, they overpowered driver Hassan Mirani and hijacked the taxi.

The taxi driver informed the Sukkur police who passed on the information to Ghotki police. When the car reached near Ghotki, the police chased the robbers who dashed the car against a tree. As a result Mushtaq Mirani and Rafiq Khilji were injured and arrested by the police. The police registered a case against them.
