GUJRANWALA, Feb 17: Troops held a flag march here on Thursday in connection with security arrangements during Muharram.
Reports said armymen would help the district administration and the police at sensitive places, including imambargahs and mosques. The troops also conducted flag march in Kamoki, Naushera Virkan and Wazirabad along with the police and reviewed security measures.
District Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha has also banned pillion-riding for three days from Friday to Sunday in connection with security measures for Ashura. DPO Dr. Arif Mushtaq told Dawn that the elite force and police commandos had already been deployed at all sensitive places while he himself and other senior officers were monitoring security measures following visiting such places. The armymen also marched on the routes of Zuljinnah procession in the city.
SIALKOT: A huge contingent of police and army troops on Thursday held a flag march on various city roads of the district to ensure peace during Ashura. About 15 police vehicles participated in the show which was led by District Police Officer Usama Mumtaz Raja. All circle police officials and SHOs participated in the march that continued for about two hours.
Meanwhile, the district has been divided into four circles to maintain law and order during Muharram congregations and processions. As many as 1,500 security personnel would be deputed in the district to maintain law and order.
