OKARA, Feb 23: The Okara Saddar police on Wednesday registered a case against 1,600 tenants, including 69 women, who blocked the GT Road on Feb 5. The case was registered on the report of SHO Inspector Naseer Ahmad.

According to the FIR, the tenants held a protest demonstration carrying red flags, iron rods and raised slogans against their ejection from agricultural land, army and Rangers, and blocked the GT Road and railway track.

MURDER CASE: Gogera police registered on Wednesday a case against tehsil Nazim Nadeem Abbas Rubera, his younger brother Asad and others for murdering retired ASI Malik Suleman on Feb 21 over the dispute of wagon stand possession.

Meanwhile, the TMA staff went on strike against 'implication' of the Nazim in a fake case. They blocked various roads by burning old tyres. The workers union office-bearers told this correspondent that the Nazim was present in the office when the incident took place. When contacted, Mr Rubera demanded investigation by any police officer as he was innocent.
