GUJRANWALA, March 3: Punjab Transport Minister Rana Shamshad Khan said 'helmet law' would not be repealed as it protected motorcyclists while crackdown would continue.
Talking to Dawn here on Thursday, he said teams had been formed to raid helmet shops black marketering. He said the apex court had not issued any order to the department to restore wagon routes instead the court directed legislation in Article 269-A regarding franchize system.
ROBBERIES: Dacoits looted two houses and took away a motorcycle in three strikes in the city on Thursday. Nine outlaws broke into the house of head constable Ghulam Sarwer in Dera Boherwala Qila Dedar Singh.
They tied him and his two brothers Malik and Azam, besides women, and took away Rs50,000, jewellery, a mobile phone and wrist watches. Five bandits entered Iqbal's house in Gulberg Colony, held up the inmates and made off with Rs45,000, foreign currency, gold jewellery and other valuables.
Two robbers stopped a passer by, Mubin Malik, and deprived him of his motorcycle (GAP-662) at gunpoint when he was on his way home from the market.
