ISLAMABAD, March 13: Wapda, with 75 points, bagged the two-day 2nd National women karate championship, which concluded on Sunday at the Islamabad Sports Complex.
Wapda claimed four gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Pakistan Army came second scoring 50 points with two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Sindh who had also accumulated 50 points made to the third with one gold, three silver and one bronze medals.
In the above 60kg category, Kulsoom Hazara (Sindh) clinched gold, Benish Khan (Wapda) received silver and Qudsia Aslam (Punjab) and Afsana (Islamabad) achieved bronze medals.
In the below 60kg, Huma Tabassum (Army) struck gold, Mehjabeen Sardar (Sindh) obtained silver and Humaira Akhtar (Police) and Vajeeha Yasin (Punjab) secured bronze medals.
Musarrat Afzal (Wapda) earned top honours with gold, Kausar Naheed (Punjab) bagged silver and Madiha Gulzar (NWFP) and Bakhtawar Hazara (Sindh) had to be content with bronze medals in the below 53kg category.
In the below 48kg, Ghulam Fatima (Wapda) clinched gold, Sundas Salam (Sindh) obtained silver and Hina Azeem (Army) and Rabeela (Punjab) were awarded bronze medals.
Raheela Shaheen (Army) won gold, Neelam Afzal (Sindh) silver and Yasmeen Kauser (Wapda) and Sarwat Iqbal (Islamabad) obtained bronze medals in the below 44kg.
In the individual kata, Zarpash Mustafa (Wapda) won gold and Hira Khalid (Islamabad) earned silver. Raheela Shaheen (Army) and Humaira Akhtar (Police) took bronze medals in this category.
In team kata, Wapda and Army won gold and silver medals, respectively and the bronze medals went to Police and Punjab teams.—APP
