NEW DELHI, March 18: Begum Musharrafuddin and Bilal Musharraf, the mother and son of President Pervez Musharraf, on a private visit to India, were given a warm reception at the Aligarh Muslim University on Friday. The president?s father Syed Musharrafuddin and mother, Begum Zareen Musharrafuddin, had both studied at AMU, 120kms from the Indian capital.

Students warmly received the visitors and chanted slogans in support of India-Pakistan friendship. Syed Musharrafuddin had graduated from the university in 1935. Begum Zareen had studied at the university in the early 1940s.

?It was so nice I had tears in my eyes,? said Begum Zareen of her visit. ?I had promised my grandmother that I would always come here,? said her grandson. They visited the Jama Masjid inside the AMU premises, placed a wreath at the mausoleum of university founder Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and offered special prayers.
