Farhan stuns Amjad: Squash

PESHAWAR, March 25: Top seed Mansoor Zaman eased his way into the pre-quarterfinals after recording victory against Bilal Zaman on the opening day of the All-Pakistan NWFP Squash Cup at Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Friday.

Former world champion Qamar Zaman formally inaugurated the championship which carries prize money of Rs200,000.

It was a straight sets victory for world no. 28 and former Asian gold medalist in a 21-minute battle with the final score 11-4, 11-4, 11-2.

Young Farhan Mehboob stunned former world no. 10 and ex-Pakistan champion Amjad Khan in a thrilling 73-minute battle watched by a capacity crowd.

Farhan won the first two sets 11-, 11-6 sets. However, Amjad hit back to grab the next two sets 6-11 and 7-11 to tie the tally 2-2.

Farhan showed tremendous spirit against experienced Amjad in the deciding set and first tied the score at 7-7 having trailed 2-7 and then raced up to the victory by winning the set 11-7.
