HYDERABAD, March 29: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has stressed the need for improving the educational system by providing modern laboratory equipment and appointing competent teachers.
He was speaking at a ceremony for laying the foundation stone of an intermediate college here on Monday evening. The function was organized by the Sadiq Foundation in the Sadiqabad village, Tando Allahyar.
“There are thousands of villages which lack even primary education facilities. Many a village school need posting of teachers. Besides, a large number of schools lack facilities of buildings, water, electricity, furniture, laboratories and lavatories”, Mr Rafiquzzaman maintained.
He regretted that Sindh lacked educational facilities and the standard of education in the province was deteriorating. This had led to unemployment, a sense of deprivation among people and indulgence in criminal activities, he observed.
He said his government had made efforts to improve education facilities in the district. However, he said the objective could not be achieved without support of Sindh and federal governments because it required huge investment.
Praising the Sadiq Foundation for its services in promotion of education in the area, the nazim announced to dedicate the college in the name of the late Sadiq Memon. He also announced to provide an auditorium to the college.
He directed the EDO, health, for deputing a doctor with paramedical staff at the Government Medical Centre, Sadiqabad.
He endorsed a demand of Sadiq Foundation chairman Maqbool Memon for a separate cadet college for girls in the Hyderabad district.
